Tents and Local Residents' Homes

Enrollment during September 1912 climbed to fifty, twice that of the previous year’s. “Farmer boys all over the country,” reacted “kindly” to a “plan for housing them in tents . . . ” and secured “tents for the winter’s camp.” Local residents housed many students who could not be accommodated in the dormitory, and faculty members implemented a “cooperative” dining table arrangement that enabled boys housed either in tents or local homes to consume their meals in the girls’ dormitory dining hall.
