Children's Art Studio

Established 2003

Providing a quality art experience

for children in grades 3, 4, 5, & 6

About the Program:

The curriculum for both the fall and spring sessions are different than craft classes as it is an academic approach to art. Students are introduced to art vocabulary, color theory, and develop their drawing and painting skills. Students learn how to work with various media, how to care and clean art supplies and art exhibit etiquette.

Attendance at all sessions is important for successful learning and completion of projects. Children should be able to sit for approximately one hour increments, be able to follow verbal and written instructions as well as learn from the teachers' demonstrations. There will be no make up classes; missed days have to be made up by working at home.

Cost to attend is $50 and students who qualify for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program may qualify for a $25/semester scholarship. Note that scholarships are available on a first come/first served basis. No refunds after the first class.

The 2012 - 2013 program sponsors are the Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Lawton, Lawton Arts & Humanities Council, Lawton Public Schools and the McMahon Auditorium Authority. For more information, call the Arts & Humanities Division at 581-347013471.
