Mrs. Minnette Page to be honored with
the Lawton Award in Excellence at the Lawton Birthday Reception and Ceremony
(Lawton, OK) The Mayor of Lawton, Fred Fitch is pleased to invite the public to Lawton’s Birthday Reception and Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, August 4 at 5:30pm in the Banquet Hall at City Hall, 212 SW 9th Street.
Mayor Fitch will present the Lawton Award in Excellence to Mrs. Minnette Page. This special award is presented annually by the Mayor to an individual who exemplifies outstanding excellence in service to community, state, and nation. Mayor Fitch stated, “it is an honor to name Mrs. Page to this recognition. She is an appropriate person for all that she has given to our great city.”
Mrs. Minnette Zak Page was born in Lawton to Mayer and Minnie (Nee Wainstein) Zak, who were early citizens of Lawton. Mrs. Page credits her family’s example of community service and her father’s commitment to education in establishing her path in life as a Lawton Public School teacher. She has excelled and made numerous contributions in preservation of Lawton’s history and buildings, serving on the Lawton Public School Board and Lawton City Council as well as president of various cultural and civic organizations. Mrs. Page has inspired many individuals to excel in their personal lives as well as creating a desire to serve their community and make it a better place to live and work not only for themselves but for future generations. Mrs. Page notes that, “education is one thing that no one can take away from you and that with education you can better serve yourself and your family.”
Also on the evening program, the Lawton Rangers and the Pioneer Women’s Club of Lawton will be recognized for 78 years of service to the community. For more information on the City of Lawton’s 115th Birthday Celebration contact the Arts & Humanities Division at 580-581-3470 or 581-3471.
