ABOUT THE MAGAZINE

The Lawton Arts and Entertainment Magazine contains articles about arts, humanities, organizations, and other cultural events with a calendar listing. The magazine is sponsored by the City of Lawton, the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Oklahoma Arts Council. It is a free quarterly publication. If you would like to have a copy delivered, we can placed you on the mailing list, please let us know by calling 580-581-3470 or 580-581-3471 or emailing us at LAHC@cityof.lawton.ok.us.

If you are interested in submitting items for publication, we accept items in electronic format. Photos should be high resolution and in jpg or tif format. The magazine is printed four times a year. Copy deadlines (dates may vary and are subject to change) are:

Autumn Issue (Sept,Oct,& Nov) - July 5-9
Winter Issue (Dec,Jan, & Feb) – Sep 27-30
Spring Issue (Mar,Apr, & May) - Jan 15-18
Summer Issue (June,July,& Aug) - April 5-9

How to get Guidelines for Submitting Articles for Consideration
Should be no more than 300 words long and must be double-spaced. Font size is limited to 10. Please remember that if there is not enough room to run your article, the information about your event will be included in the calendar. Remember, if your article is too long it may be edited to fit in the magazine.

Guidelines for Short Stories, Essays, and Poetry
Poetry and submissions of essays on topics of local interest are also welcome and will be used as space permits.

Guidelines for Submitting Artwork for Consideration
All mediums (oil, collage, metal, and etc.) and styles will be considered. Also, photographs of three-dimensional works are also accepted. You should send an artist statement about the artwork with a brief biography and photograph. Please, NO original works should be sent to the office without prior notification. (Note -only front & back are color.)
