Beginning Salary: $1,100.80 bi-weekly

Operates a variety of medium and heavy-duty equipment and trucks utilized in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution system; serves as regular lead person to monitor work flow, review and correct work, and direct work at job sites.
Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects to water lines, fire hydrants, valves and meters. Work may include pavement-cutting, ditch digging, laying and connecting of pipe and backfilling. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, cleans and flushes water lines, gates, fire hydrants and fittings. Responds to complaints and informs public regarding water outages. Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers needed repairs to supervisor. Uses locating equipment. Assists with proper traffic diversion in and around job sites. Ability to assess the job at hand and determine course of action, making. Skill in the operation of the following tools and equipment in all types of weather and surface conditions: motorized vehicles and equipment including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, backhoe, track hoe, front-end loader, hydrohammer, trencher, saws, pumps, generators, compressors; common hand tools and power tools; shovels, wrenches; detection devices; mobile radio; phone. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; to work safely; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; ability to record information accurately; ability to read water atlas.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license Possession of a Class “A” commercial driver’s license or must pass the written test within 30 days and obtain the license within six (6) months of date of employment. Possession of or the ability to obtain Class “D” Water Certification as issued by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality within one year of date of hire. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Two years prior experience related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of water lines, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
