Position Purpose
Performs a variety of semi-skilled labor and maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City collection facilities and systems. Operates a variety of light and medium equipment and trucks utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities; performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in maintenance of street, traffic control, storm drainage, and sewer systems.
Job Duties/Knowledge
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment. Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew. Operates vehicles of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies. Uses equipment for digging and leveling in the construction, maintenance and repair of ditches, streets and storm drainage systems; and for hoisting and loading tools, materials and equipment. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, and grades rock for installation of sewer pipe. Spots locations of water lines and sewer lines during excavation. Enters confined spaces.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license. Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality class “D” Wastewater certification must be obtained within one year of employment.
