Beginning Salary: $1,024.00 bi-weekly

Utility locators are responsible for locating the paths of sanitary sewer, water lines and storm water lines. The locator’s efforts protect underground utilities from damage during excavation projects
Performs work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities (sanitary sewer, water and storm water) while using special electronic equipment to actually detect and locate said utilities. Performs routine inspection on locate equipment. Keeps locate equipment clean. Performs service to and makes repairs on assigned equipment. Major defects are referred to supervisor. Performs duties to appropriate safety standards. Ability to communicate with others. Maintains accurate records. Receives and responds to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements. Ability to work in all type of weather conditions, walking on various terrains; and work independently. Operates a city vehicle safely and maintains a professional appearance. Knowledge of City codes and regulations. Develop general knowledge of State and Local damage prevention regulations. Ability to understand and follow oral or written instruction and to give oral instruction; ability to observe proper safety precautions; ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Two (2) years experience involving water, storm drainage, or sewer systems. Knowledge of the standard procedures of utilizing the OKIE One Call system. Possession of valid driver’s license. Class ODEQ Operators Class D certification in Water and Wastewater within one year of date of hire.
