Position Purpose
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair and maintenance.
Job Duties/Knowledge
Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment such as motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, street roller, lift truck, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, propane kettle, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, ditch witch. . Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools. Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, gravel and sand. Helps in the installation, maintenance and repair of new and existing signs, removal of street markings, street striping and any other functions of the division where additional manpower is required. May operate light equipment. Controls traffic in and around job sites with the use of flags, signs, barricades, lighted arrow boards and traffic cones. Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; to work safely; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
