Beginning Salary: $1308.00 bi-weekly

To provide first line supervision of field crews involved in street, drainage, alley maintenance and construction. Prepares various reports, inspects completed projects, and visits with the public concerning complaints.
Assists in planning and establishing operating policies and procedures. Responds to emergency situations. Answers questions and complaints and takes remedial actions. Supervises the installation and maintenance of streets and drainage projects signs, traffic signals and the application of traffic markings. Investigates and inspects pavement, curbs and drainage ways, traffic signal lights, street signs and traffic markings for needed repairs, replacement or rebuilding. Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises and inspects the work of employees. Instructs and enforces City of Lawton and OSHA safety rules, policies and procedures. Collects and submits data on special projects. Design and layout streets, road and drainage projects. Acts as Superintendent when required. Keeps records; makes required reports and cost estimates. Assists in coordinating activities with other areas of the City, State and County governments. Works with Street Division scheduler on work orders and backlog. Sets up engineer levels to check grades. Knowledge of materials, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the areas of specialization. Knowledge occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to maintain required records and prepare reports. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and work from sketches and plans. Knowledge of paints, herbicides, concrete and asphalt. Knowledge of the installation of traffic signal lights and signs in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Good written and oral communication and exercise sound judgment. Responsible for division employees and their evaluations.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license and must obtain a Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial driver’s license by passing the written test within 30 days and successfully completing the driving test prior to 6 months from date of hire. Due to Oklahoma State licensing requirements for this position, an original or certified true copy of your birth certificate or pass port must be made available before a conditional offer for a job can be made.Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or possession of a GED equivalent supplemented by special training in supervision.
