Performs routine clerical and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public, providing citizen assistance, data processing and bookkeeping.
Types correspondence, memorandums, tabular material and budget sheets using format provided by supervisor; files information. Receives the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries. Writes requisitions to encumber funds and keeping track of divisional accounts for multiple divisions. Maintains database and enters data for work orders and preventative maintenance tasks for multiple divisions. Regularly receives stamps and distributes incoming mail, processes outgoing mail. Receives calls via two-way radio and provides information and assistance to division personnel. Provides clerical assistance to various committees, when required. Writes and checks division personnel and payroll forms for accuracy. Skill in the operation of the following: telephone, personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet and database software; copy machine, fax machine; base radio; 10 key calculator. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; of bookkeeping principles and practices; of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Ability to work under direct or occasional supervision. Must be able to read and perform math at a 12th grade level; to effectively meet and deal with the public; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to work independently.
Requirement-Education and ExperienceGraduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing and bookkeeping and two years of increasingly responsible experience; or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Must have valid typing and spelling scores taken in the Human Resources office and be less than one (1) year old. Tests may be taken on a walk in basis between the hours of 9:00 to 11:15 am and 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm. A picture ID is required. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit test scores. Tests must be on file prior to closing date of position. Possession of a valid driver’s license
