Responsible for providing library services directly and indirectly to library customers and for assisting the Library with a variety of library operations
Assists customers in library-related services; use of the online catalog and other online resources; in locating materials and completing interlibrary loan requests. Promotes electronic databases to customers. Plans, coordinates, and implements special library programs. Participates in collection development and maintenance. Assists in creating displays and publicity materials. Performs clerical duties when necessary. Collects statistics as directed. Maintains professionalism at all times. Communicates work progress, work problems, and library related issues with staff as appropriate. Carries out current policies, procedures, and directives. Works with staff members in a cooperative manner. Follows established channels of communication. Follows directions and works without close supervision. Assists other work groups within the Library as necessary. Excellent customer service skills. Proficiency in using computers and the internet. Competency in Microsoft Office software and Web 2.0 software. Skill in the operation of various office equipment including audio-visual equipment; copy machine, fax machine, and telephone. Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions and to communicate with the public and library staff in English. Knowledge of library-oriented networks. Knowledge of library classifications, collections, and procedures. Understanding of basic arithmetic and alphabetical order for filing. Willingness to work flexible schedule and to provide back-up coverage as needed. Works with a minimum of supervision.
Requirement-Education & ExperienceGraduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. Minimum of two years work experience preferably working directly with the public. Possession of a valid driver’s license
