Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the departmental staff, and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the department. Performs other duties as required.
Performs routine clerical and administrative work. Receives the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries. Assists in the procurement of departmental materials, supplies, and acts as custodian of departmental documents and records. Establishes and maintains filing systems, controls records and indexes using moderate independent judgment. Prepares and monitors various types of work orders, requisitions, invoices and reviews office budget accounts and writes requisitions to arrange payments. Composes, types, and edits a variety of correspondence requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness. Inputs data, makes simple postings to accounts; compiles data for various reports; knowledge of budget process, purchasing procedures, and contracts. Compiles data and makes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to ODEQ and FAA regarding permit requirements governing landfill operations. Skill in the operation of the following tools and equipment: telephone; computer terminal; personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet and database software; scanner; fax machine; copy machine; postage machine; calculator; radio; cell phone. Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; of modern office practices and procedures; some knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Ability to perform duties accurately; to effectively meet and deal with others; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Processes incoming/outgoing mail. Performs scale attendant functions as necessary. Plans conferences and training sessions; coordinates travel plans for departmental staff. Schedules appointments, and performs other administrative and clerical duties. Writes and checks division personnel and payroll forms for accuracy. Operates a vehicle.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting and bookkeeping, and two years of increasingly responsible related experience; or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Must have valid typing and spelling scores taken in the Human Resources office and be less than one (1) year old. Tests may be taken on a walk in basis between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:15 pm. A picture ID is required. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit test scores. Tests must be on file prior to closing date of position.
