Beginning Salary: $1,024.00 bi-weekly

Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the departmental staff and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the Division.
Performs secretarial work and various administrative details for the Division. Prepares items for City Council meetings, various boards and commissions, and outside entities. Composes, types and edits a variety of correspondence requiring judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness. Inputs data to standard office and interdepartmental forms; makes postings to accounts; compiles data for various reports. Prepares draft budget; reviews office budget accounts and writes requisitions to arrange payments. Maintains filing systems, databases, reports and records; controls records and indexes.. Maintains office calendar and schedules appointments; prepares travel arrangements. May operate radio and assists in radio communications. Skill in the operation of the following tools and equipment: telephone, computer terminal, personal computer word processing, spreadsheet and database software, scanner, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, radio and cell phone. Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality; ability and willingness to work independently under pressure and to make decisions independently in accordance with established rules, regulations, and departmental policies; ability to perform basic bookkeeping and accounting procedures; ability to plan and work independently; ability to learn quickly and adapt to new procedures. Ability to perform duties accurately; ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license. Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting and bookkeeping and two years of increasingly responsible related experience; or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Must have valid typing and spelling scores taken in the Human Resources office and be less than one (1) year old. Tests may be taken on a walk in basis between the hours of 9:00 to 11:15 am and 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm. A picture ID is required. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit test scores. Tests must be on file prior to closing date of position.
