Position Purpose
This position is located in the Finance Department, Information Technology Division. The purpose of the position is to provide information management and technology support to City departments by using knowledge and skills to solve IT problems. Analyzes and designs, forming project specifications and statements of problems and procedures, then creates or modifies computer programs, using computer technology, thereby helping the City realize the maximum benefit from its investment in equipment and personnel. The employee is responsible for providing team leadership to trainees.
Job Duties/Knowledge
Knowledge of modern electronic data processing theory, principles and practices; Knowledge of information technology systems; knowledge of office automation and computerized business and government applications. Ability to construct programs in high-level computer languages such as Visual Basic, SQL, VB Script, HTML, ASP, XML, JavaScript , Microsoft Access, Dreamweaver or Fourth Generation languages. Crystal Reporting, SQL Reporting and Web Development experience a plus. Weekend and late night work is not uncommon as well as rotating call status.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Technology from a four-year college or university; or any equivalent combination of education and experience with two years experience substituting for one year of education. Minimum of two years writing programming code in a college environment or two years documented prior experience in database system design and implemented computer automated systems to include extensive use of computer languages. Certificated proponent of organization at intermediate level preferred. Must include copy of college transcript.
