Operates a variety of medium and heavy duty equipment and heavy trucks utilized in construction, maintenance, and repair activities of water distribution and wastewater collection; serves as a regular lead person to monitor work flow, review and correct work, and direct work at job sites and visits with the public concerning complaints.
Drives trucks of various sizes and weights. Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water mains, pipes, gates and fittings on repair of mains, services and installation. Supervises a 1 or 2 man crew. Maintains materials and equipment inventory. Insures proper preventative maintenance on equipment. Responds to emergency situations. Must enter confined spaces. Skill in the operation of the following: back hoe, front end loader, motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, jet inductor truck; manlift; saws; pumps; generators; compressors; common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches; detection devices; mobile radio; phone; ditch witch; survey level; laser level. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; to communicate effectively; to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; ability to operate television equipment in main inspection; ability to provide leadership for small crews. Ability to plan and layout work; obtain results and meet established schedules. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; work from sketches and plans. Ability to perform grade and elevation mathematical calculations.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and three (3) years prior experience related to construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, water lines, sewer lines, or refuge disposal; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of valid driver’s license and must obtain a Class "A" Oklahoma Commercial driver’s license within six (6) months from date of hire. Possession of or the ability to obtain a Class “D” Wastewater Certification from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality within (1) one year of date of hire. Due to Oklahoma State licensing requirements for this position, an original or certified true copy of your birth certificate or passport must be made available BEFORE a conditional offer for a job can be made.
