Job Title: PLANNING TECHNICIAN one (1) position available

Beginning Salary: $1272.00 bi-weekly

To create and maintain all official City of Lawton Base maps including but not limited to official zoning maps, lot & block and subdivision maps, street numbering system, floodplain maps, city wide street maps and others map as needed, To provide technical and professional assistance within the department to City Council, Planning Commission, other city departments and the general public. Responsible for the quality and timeliness of all maps, sketches, slides, signs and graphics produced or utilized in the department.
Provides current property information on zoning, legal descriptions, property dimensions, easements etc. Prepares drawings, exhibits and maps. Assists in development of databases and maps for GIS. Experience in inking of mylar, splicing, taping and mounting maps on form core board and coloring maps. Ability to read and use zoning, quarter- section, plat, land use, single line and aerial maps. Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions of parcels or land from information of public record or date derived from other source material. Knowledge of floodplain management regulations. Expertise in graphics and computer drafting programs. Ability to research real property; communicate fluently in English and perceive color as defined by ISCC-NBS; Experience in engineering and architectural practices related to subdivision and building development. Skill in the use of personal computers, word processing software, spreadsheet/database software and computer aided drafting software. Ability to get along well with others and work with a minimum of supervision.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from a technical school with certification in drafting, graphic design or surveying and five years progressive experience in real estate, planning, surveying or closely related field. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
