Job Title: SENIOR SECRETARY One (1) position available

Beginning Salary: $1,024.00 bi-weekly

Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the departmental staff and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the Division.
Provides customer assistance: answers calls; receives the public; answers questions; responds to inquiries. Composes, types, and edits a variety of correspondence requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness. Prepares meeting notices, agenda packets and takes minutes for various boards and committees. Assists with annual budget preparation. Maintains inventories; orders supplies and materials. Processes invoices for payment through GEMS. Processes mail. Inputs data to office and departmental forms; makes simple postings to accounts; compiles data for various reports. Plans conferences and training sessions; coordinates travel plans. Maintains filing systems, controls records and indexes. Operates a vehicle to run errands. Skill in the operation of the following: telephone; personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet and database software; scanner; fax machine; copy machine; postage machine; calculator; radio; cell phone. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; of accounting principles and practices. Ability to perform duties accurately; ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices and two years of increasingly responsible related experience; or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Requires completion of typing and spelling tests. Must have valid typing and spelling scores taken in the Human Resources office and be less than one (1) year old. Tests may be taken on a walk in basis between the hours of 9:00 to 11:15 am and 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm. A picture ID is required. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit test scores. Tests must be on file prior to closing date of position. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
