Position Purpose
This position is located in the Finance Department, Information Technology Division. The purpose of the position is to provide business analysis, software expertise and computer programming in support of City business information applications supporting the information management needs of City departments
Job Duties/Knowledge
Gathers and analyzes user requirements, prepares specifications, and designs, writes, tests, implements, and maintains applications, programs, reports, and documentation. Works with vendors to implement and maintain third party software solutions. Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and systems application techniques is required, as well as knowledge of business theory and principles, particularly as it relates to City government. Must have the ability to understand business problems and devise solutions. Ability to develop and maintain programs and applications in a Microsoft environment using computer languages and programs such as Visual Basic, SQL, VB Script, HTML, ASP, XML, JavaScript, Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, Crystal Reports, COBOL, Dreamweaver. SQL, Crystal Reports, and Visual Basic skills are preferred. Weekend and late night work is not uncommon as well as rotating call status.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Technology from a four-year college or university; or any equivalent combination of education and experience with two years experience substituting for one year of education. Minimum of two years writing programming code in a college environment or two years documented prior experience in database system design and implemented computer automated systems to include extensive use of computer languages. Must include copy of college transcript.
