Performs varied skilled, technical field work in the maintenance, repair and testing of water meters; tapping, boring and trenching for meter settings; inspecting new taps and meter settings and installing and removing meters.
Installs and removes 2” and larger water meters. Installs, repairs, replaces and cleans municipal water meters. Inspects new water taps and water meter settings per engineering standards and installs water meters after taps and settings are inspected and approved. Tests water meters and performs repairs or adjustments accurately and to AWWA standards. Maintains meter repair facilities, test equipment and an inventory of meters and meter parts. Performs routine maintenance on service vehicles, trailer, tractor and tapping machine. Knowledge and skill in testing and repairing water meters in accordance with AWWA standards. Ability to drive vehicles and operate equipment in ALL weather, traffic and surface conditions to include a small backhoe, trencher, boring machine, tapping machine, dump trucks, tractor, front-end loader, and backhoe. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and test equipment properly and safely.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. One year minimum experience in reading meters or similar duties. Possession of valid driver’s license and possession of or the ability to obtain a Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial driver’s license within 6 months of date of hire. Must pass CDL written test within 30 days. Possession of or the ability to obtain Class “D” Water certification as issued by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality within one year of date of hire.
