Beginning Salary:      $19.76-$20.77 hourly DOQ
Closing Date: 5 pm March 19, 2014
Status: Partl-time 20 hours per week     

Position Purpose

Provides reference services, library programming, collection development and maintenance, and continual opportunities to engage the community in library activities.

Job Duties/Knowledge

Aids patrons in how to find and use sources of information and use library equipment. Conducts library tours, story hours, Internet classes, and special workshops. Plans, coordinates, and implements special library programs. Works with community groups to promote the library. Creates bibliographies, pathfinders, displays, and other aids for research.  Maintains and analyzes statistics to determine ways to provide better services for the public. May supervise staff and volunteers.  Is “person in charge” at designated times. Helps formulate library policies and procedures.

Skill in the operation of the following: strong computer knowledge including web 2.0 and troubleshooting, online reference resources, and database management software. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and tools of library science.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to work independently using initiative and judgment; to train and coordinate tasks of employees; to set priorities; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Requirement-Education & Experience

Graduation from an ALA accredited college or university with an MLS/MLIS degree or equivalent.  At least one year of experience in library operations preferred.  Must be able to provide copy of college/university transcript upon request.
