Performs a variety of complex clerical, secretarial and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the legal staff, and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the legal department.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions; organize and work accurately and follow office procedures. Skill in typing, use of the English language and general office machines. Ability to work independently, accurately and make decisions. Receives the public in person and answers incoming calls. Drafts routine correspondence and may transcribe from recorded material. Processes mail. Maintains calendars, schedules; makes travel arrangements. Maintains attorney-client privileges. Safeguards confidential information. Assists division with lawsuits, tort claims, grievance arbitrations including assembling briefs, documents and exhibits; preparation for personnel board hearings; pre-trial conferences and non-jury trials; sounding of the docket, court minutes and related information, tables and reports. Makes simple postings to accounts. May assist Court as necessary.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Must have valid typing and spelling scores taken in the Human Resources office and be less than one (1) year old. Tests may be taken on a walk in basis between the hours of 9:00 to 11:15 am and 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm. A picture ID is required. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit test scores. Tests must be on file prior to closing date of position. Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or possess a GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing and bookkeeping and two years of increasingly responsible experience; or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Possession of valid driver’s license.
