Serves as the Instrumentation Technician in various divisions within the City of Lawton, Department of Public Works.
Tests, installs, replaces, calibrates, and maintains instruments, components, and equipment including receivers, transmitters, analyzers, strip charts, analog and digital controls, recorders, and chlorination instrumentation controls. Plans, schedules, and implements a preventive maintenance program on all instruments, telemetry, and computer controlled automation at all facilities. Installs, calibrates and otherwise maintains treatment plant control systems such as analyzers, software and SCADA instrumentation, hardware troubleshoots, wiring, and other work as needed. Prepares written reports as required. Occasionally trains and reviews work of others on an assigned basis. Occasionally installs and tests cathode protection systems; assists mechanic and plant operator; requisitions parts and materials as needed. Assists in preparing cost estimates for new projects and for annual budget. Knowledge of the materials, methods, techniques, tools, and equipment used in instrumentation testing in an industrial environment; of occupational hazards involved and safety precautions necessary for the safe conduct of electromechanical work and equipment operation; of PLC troubleshooting techniques, interfacing, software programming and hardware setup.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from an accredited high school, GED equivalent or vocational school supplemented by two years of college with courses in electronics and electrical theory and four years of experience in electronic instrumentation work at the journey level or higher; or equivalent combination of education and experience Possession of a valid driver’s license. Possession of or the ability to obtain Class “C” Water Certification as issued by Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality within one year of date of hire.
