Position Purpose
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of events scheduled for the Lawton City Hall and Wayne Gilley City Hall meeting rooms, banquet hall and auditoriums.
Job Duties/Knowledge
Coordinates activities with event promoters, and others, ensuring compliance with City policies as well as local, state, and national safety regulations. Coordinates or performs audio and lighting tasks for events. Supervises and participates in the set up and break down of event equipment. Ensures patron safety, and responds to patron concerns and emergencies. Enforces City rules and regulations related to the lessee, stagehands, and the general public by monitoring the event; ensures proper use and care of the facilities. Coordinates or performs maintenance and repairs of the facility and equipment. Adjusts heating, cooling and lighting systems including turning systems on/off as appropriate. Works flexible hours to accommodate evening and weekend events. Provides coverage of the Lawton City Hall Atrium receptionist desk as needed. Skilled in oral and written communication; in managing, organizing and problem solving associated to facility maintenance, janitorial maintenance, and coordinating activities of events. Ability to relate to people of diverse background; deal effectively in a team environment; to work and meet deadlines. Ability to motivate self and others and to make independent and sound decisions fast, working in a high paced/high pressured environment. Ability to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for participants. Ability to obtain and maintain first aid and CPR certifications. Ability to identify safety and risk management concerns.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from a high school, vocational school or GED equivalent. Graduation from an accredited high school, or GED with some college preferred. Five (5) years experience in facility management or public relations. Five (5) years experience with operation or supervision of sound and lighting systems. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
