Beginning Salary:      $887.20 bi-weekly

Position Purpose

Performs a variety of semi-skilled labor and maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City collection facilities and systems. Operates a variety of light and medium equipment and trucks utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities; performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in maintenance of street, traffic control, storm drainage, and sewer systems.

Job Duties/Knowledge

Knowledge of general tools, light duty equipment and techniques applicable to the area of assignment.  Ability to acquire knowledge of the operating details and procedures of specialized equipment and other characteristics of a specific assignment. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.  Operates compressor, pneumatic tools, power tampers, rodding machines and various hand and power tools in the repair and maintenance of sewer lines, water lines, catch basins, streets, traffic lines and markings, alleys, sidewalks, building and similar projects. Reads water gauges and records readings; collects water and sewage samples from designated locations throughout the City. Performs semi-skilled manual tasks relating to such activities as laying and repairing of water and sewer lines, construction and repair of head walls, catch basins, steel, concrete and other pipe installations and appurtenances.

Requirement-Education & Experience

Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Valid driver's license. Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality Class D Wastewater certification must be obtained within one year of employment.
