Location: Parks & Recreation Department / Building Maintenance Division
Beginning Salary: $712.80 bi-weekly
Closing Date: 5 pm February 18, 2013
Under moderate supervision, performs semi-skilled routine custodial duties in city buildings and facilities requiring physical dexterity, replace supplies and perform other related work as necessary.
Must be willing to work varied shifts including extended hours, weekends, evening and nights. May be required to return to work in emergency situations. Knowledge of modern and efficient janitorial methods and techniques. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in general building maintenance and custodial work. Ability to operate and maintain the following tools and equipment: vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, polisher, carpet cleaner and other necessary custodial equipment. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and buffs hallways, stairways and restrooms. Vacuums and shampoos carpets. Collects and removes waste and trash from facilities. Washes walls, windows, mirrors, light fixtures and drinking fountains. Dusts, cleans and maintains fixtures, window sills and railings. Replaces light bulbs. Minor painting. Cleans and disinfects restrooms, washbowls, sinks, toilets and urinals. Replenishes towels, tissues, soaps and other restroom supplies. Maintains the security of the buildings at all times. Assists in loading, unloading and moving of supplies, equipment and furniture up to 50 pounds. Reports needed building repairs and supply status.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license. Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or possession of a GED equivalent.
