|CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR One (1) position available|

Performs routine semi-skilled and technical construction inspection work for environmental, water, sewer, street and other public works projects and programs. Inspects for compliance with Federal, State and local codes and standards and contractual provisions.
Regularly performs inspections on construction and/or repair of streets, storm sewers, potable water lines, sanitary sewer lines, traffic control devices, instrumentation, mechanical systems, buildings, treatment facilities, detention and retention facilities, park facilities and their appurtenances for compliance with approved construction documents. Prepares daily written reports, determines contract quantities, takes photographs and maintains records on inspection activity and status of work in progress. Advises and confers with others concerning problems resulting from construction or repair activity. Oversees the testing of construction materials for compliance with established requirements. Assists in researching information. Provides information and responds to inquiries from others. Performs work in accordance with safety policies and procedures. Some knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting; knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to construction, inspection, safety and traffic control; knowledge of public works inspection methods. Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field and office data, reports and systems; ability to perform required mathematical computations; ability to effectively communicate complex technical information. Ability to operate the following tools and equipment: pipe locator, pressure gauges, testing equipment, engineering calculator, digital camera, motor vehicle, phone and mobile radio.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Graduation from a high school or GED, supplemented by two years of related technical or college training in construction, engineering technology, civil engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of two years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
