Position Purpose
Uses computer aided design equipment, prepares working drawings for city wide capital improvement projects, Sewer Rehabilitation projects that improve, replace or enhance streets, water, sanitary and storm sewer, area drainage and parks; maintains databases and atlases of water lines, sanitary sewer lines, storm sewer lines, drainage information and right-of-way.
Job Duties/Knowledge
Organizes the layout of and drafts construction plan sheets and calculates quantity estimates for sanitary sewer construction projects. Accurately depicts the location of structures, property lines, easements, utilities and similar information on plan sheet. Performs tasks associated with the maintenance and updates of the GIS database, base maps and similar information. Performs tasks associated with the maintenance of computer hardware and peripherals including: computers printers, plotters, etc. Serves as a survey party crewmember when necessary. Understands the conversion of various data formats into a single uniform structure. Skill in standard drafting techniques, operating a network based computer workstation, CADD and GIS software, plotter, printer and telephone. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other divisions and the general public.
Requirement-Education & Experience
Possession of a valid driver’s license. High school diploma or GED and an Associates degree or significant vocational training in CADD, GIS or closely related field and a minimum of two years of experience using CADD and/or GIS; or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
