Impoundment Information

All animals impounded in the animal shelter shall be held for a period of seventy-two (72) hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and city holidays, in order to give owners a chance to locate them.

Owners searching for lost pets must physically come to the shelter between the hours of 11:00 to 6:00 Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, to identify their pet. Staff members will not identify an animal over the phone unless it has a city license on it's collar, or some other form of ID.

Shelter staff will make every effort to contact an owner of an impounded animal with identification.

At the time of redemption, owners will need to provide staff with:

1. A copy of the animal's current rabies certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian.
2. A copy of their city license certificate.
3. A picture ID.
