The Animal Welfare division's mission is to promote public health and safety and represent the mores of the community through the humane care and protection of all its animals.  This mission is attainable through the high standards of professionalism in education, investigation, enforcement, adjudication, rescue, rehabilitation and the adoption process.

The community can best be served through common decency in caring and direct action to bring about an immediate resolution to all the problems concerning animal welfare in the City of Lawton.

It is the duty and responsibility of the employees of the Animal Welfare Division to represent all of the citizens of Lawton by fulfilling this mission through honest, fair and impartial enforcement of City ordinances and state laws.

It should be the goal of all Lawton Animal Welfare Division employees to end the needless suffering of all animals and eliminate the disturbing and atrocious need for disposing of countless numbers of animals each year.
