How to Obtain a Library Card
- Come to the Main Library or the Branch Library
- Provide picture identification and proof of your current address
- Children under 16 years of age must have a parent or
guardian sign the card
- Provide at least two local phone numbers (place of emplyment, home telephone, or cell phone)
Who May Borrow
- Free library card to residents of Lawton, Fort Sill, and Comanche County
- Students attending any educational institution in the City of Lawton
- $10.00 fee for non-residents in the neighboring counties (Caddo, Cotton, Grady, Kiowa, Stephens, Tillman)
Loan Periods
- Books and audio (CD's and playaways) 3 weeks
- Video (DVD's, VHS) 7 days
Fines and Charges
- Replacement fee for a lost library card is $1.00.
- Fines on overdue books are charged at a rate of 15 cents
per day per item after the four-day grace period
to a maximum of $4.00 per item.
- Fines on videos are charged at a rate of $1.00
per day per video up to a maximum of $10.00
and no grace period.
- The charge for lost item is the cost of the item.
There is an additional $3.00 processing
fee on books that are lost.
- The charges for damaged books vary depending on
the amount of damage.
- Interlibrary Loans are $1.00 per item.
Returning Library Materials
Books and other materials may be returned inside the Main or Branch Library.
There are night outside book drops located on the north side of the Main building
and east of the Branch Library. Other book drops are located at 45th and Lee Blvd (Country Mart).
Only books can be deposited in the book drops. Videos may not be deposited in the book drop at the Branch Library or the book drop at 45th and Lee Blvd.
Mobile Books Program
Library services are extended to help qualified shut-in and handicapped patrons.
Selected materials are delivered to their homes by volunteers at no cost to them. Call the Library at
581-3450 extension 3 for more information.
Holiday Closing
The Library observes six legal holidays-
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
The Library is closed, at times, due to bad weather. Over due fines are waived if books are due on that day.
