Brave Combo’s vivid music can be heard in the films “True Stories”, “Lord of Illusions”, “Late Bloomers”, “Fools Rush In”, “Envy”, The Academy award winning “The Personals”. They appeared at Oktoberfest in the beloved American burg of Springfield on an episode of “The Simpsons”. In 2008 Brave Combo provided the musical score for PBS’s animated series, “As the Wrench Turns” which resulted in an “Annie” nomination from the International Animated Film Society. Their music has also been featured on ABC’s hit series “Ugly Betty”, and Fox Television’s “Bakersfield P.D.” They have also contributed original music for ESPN and The Big Ten network.
The Dirty River Boys
Friday, Sept 26, 8pm, Lake Helen Stage (North)
“The band has quickly won over audiences of all ages with three part harmonies and traditional but manipulated musicality….redefining genres. The band uniquely fuses classic folk and hints of bluegrass with a modern rock edge. The Dirty River Boys remind those listening that rock and roll is here to stay…”, Lone Star Music
The Dirty River Boys are seemingly always on the road, having logged 100,000 miles in the van. They describe their CD, “Science of Flight” as Western, Fat, and Rock and Roll. Above all is their belief in their music. It motivates them and provides exultation for each member, as well as for the audiences who have become fans by the force field the band creates in live performance.
Matt Stansberry & The Romance
Saturday, Sept 27, 8pm, Lake Helen Stage (North)
A modern day 10-piece high energy retro band inspired by 50s rock and 60s Motown soul!
“Stansberry has crafted a sound that is rarely heard from new bands, especially those in Oklahoma: full horn section, soulful and engaging background singers (who thankfully weren’t that much in the background) and a fun show that would be perfectly at home in Memphis or Motown. Matt Stansberry & the Romance has a knack for building up sound with the various instruments and sending the crowd dancing. While there was plenty of soul, it wasn’t the group’s only sound. Stansberry & the Romance did a great job of incorporating rock, blues, R&B with modern sounds at the Center of the Universe Festival.”, Jerry Wofford, Tulsa World
Matt Stansberry and the Romance has been featured at many top festivals and events including Austin’s SXSW, NYE Opening Night OKC, Center Of The Universe Festival, and the Norman Music Festival. They performed earlier this year at the Charlie Christian International Festival in Lawton. They are also touring in support of their latest recording, “Crash Landing”. This band will have you on your feet dancing!
