LAWTON CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 2, 2005 - 9:00 A.M.

Mayor Purcell called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Notice of meeting and agenda
were posted
on the City Hall notice board as required by law. Invocation was given by Council Member
Randy Warren, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

COMMENTS CURRENT ADMINISTRATION
Ewing-Holmstrom stated that it a great thing that in the United States, when you
want to run for
public office, you just file the paperwork and run a good, clean campaign. You are able to
represent a portion of the city. Each City Councilor has the duty of doing what is best for the
greater good. She feels that she did not compromise her principles and she thanked her Ward 4
constituents and all of the citizens of Lawton.
Mayor Purcell presented a plaque to Council Member Amy Ewing-Holmstrom and thanked
her
for her service.
DECLARE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION TO CEASE MAYOR PURCELL
Mayor Purcell requested Judge Corrales, Council Member Bill Shoemate and Council
Members
elect Janice Drewry and Keith Jackson come forward for the Oath of Office.
ADMINISTRATION OF CONSTITUTIONAL AND STATUTORY OATHS OF OFFICE
MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE MICHAEL CORRALES.
Bill Shoemate, Janice Drewry and Keith Jackson received the Oaths of Office from
Judge
Corrales.
DECLARE NEW ADMINISTRATION TO BEGIN: Mayor John P. Purcell, Jr. declared the
new
administration to begin.

COMMENTS NEW ADMINISTRATION
Jackson thanked Ms. Holmstrom for taking care of Ward Three for the past three years
and
particularly for the intersection at 45
th Street and Lee. He also thanked his family and friends
who worked tirelessly in the campaign.
Drewry thanked all those who supported her during her campaign. She stated
she was very
excited to have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Lawton.
Shoemate thanked all those who supported him during his campaign. He stated
it is very exciting
to be a part of the growth that is happening in Lawton and the advancements that have been made
under the leadership of the past years.
Mayor Purcell reminded Council members of the first budget meeting on Tuesday, May
3
rd at
6:00 p.m. He also invited the City Council and audience members to a reception in the Mayor
s
Office.
There being no further business to consider, the meeting adjourned at 9:12 a.m. upon
motion,
second and roll call vote.
