SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
LAWTON CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 17, 2000 - 6:15 P.M.

The meeting was called to order at 6:57 p.m. by Mayor Powell. Notice of meeting and agenda
were posted on the City Hall notice board as required by State Law.

ABSENT: None.
BUSINESS ITEM:
1. Pursuant to Section 307C9, Title 25, Oklahoma Statutes, consider convening
in executive
session to discuss an economic development prospect to be located within the City of Lawton,
and if necessary, take appropriate action in open session. Exhibits: None.
MOVED by Purcell, SECOND by Warren, to convene in executive session as shown on the
agenda and as recommended by the legal staff. AYE: Purcell, Shanklin, Beller, Haywood,
Warren, Smith, Hanna, Devine. NAY: None. MOTION CARRIED.
The Mayor and Council convened in executive session at approximately 6:58 p.m. and
reconvened in special, open session at approximately 7:25 p.m. with roll call reflecting all
members present.
Vincent reported the Mayor and Council met in executive session under Section 307C9, Title 25,
Oklahoma Statutes, to receive an economic development briefing on a prospect that may be
coming to the City of Lawton. He recommended a motion authorizing the City Manager and
City Attorney's Office to prepare the necessary documents and to work with the Chamber of
Commerce and CCIDA to make this happen.
MOVED by Smith, SECOND by Warren, to authorize the City Manager and City Attorney's
Office to prepare the necessary documents and to work with the Chamber of Commerce and
CCIDA to make this happen. AYE: Beller, Haywood, Warren, Smith, Hanna, Devine, Purcell,
Shanklin. NAY: None. MOTION CARRIED.
Mayor Powell said the Trash Off Day on April 15 was a complete success and thousands of
pounds of trash was picked up; over 500 hot dogs were eaten and weiners were donated by Bar-S
and he thanked all the soldiers, City workers and Chamber of Commerce that worked to make it
such a great day. He said the City is obviously cleaner after those efforts because 1,800 trash
bags were filled and he appreciated the Council members who participated.
There was no further business to consider and the meeting adjourned at 7:27 p.m. upon motion,
second and roll call vote.
