LAWTON CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 30, 1994 - 5:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor Marley. Notice of meeting and agenda were posted on the City Hall bulletin board as required by law.

Absent:    None.

BUSINESS ITEMS:

1.    Ord. 94-22 - assessing and levying a one and one quarter percent (1.25%) sales tax to be collected from January 1, 1995, through December 31, 1999, for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects of the City and providing for the administration of the collection of the sales tax.

2.    Res. 94-79 - calling a special election to place the question before the electorate to approve or reject an ordinance assessing and levying a 1.25% sales tax from January 1, 1995 through December 31, 1999 for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects of the city and providing an effective date.

ADDENDUM:
Suspended Section 19 of Council's Rules of Procedure and suspended the implementation of Council Policy No. 35 to be returned to the City Attorney for review and revision.

REPORTS: Mitchell read a letter into the record regarding the pending sales tax. Schumpert - the remodeling for the Building Development Department had been completed and invited the Council to tour the area after adjournment. Mitchell commended Eisenhower High School football team for being ranked 8th in the Nation as was reported in the August 24 edition of USA Today.
